Orion West located in Santa Barbara, California has five consultants serving the Orion constellation. They are:

Julian W. Moody
Orion West - Senior Consultant

During thirty-three years of professional service, Julian has personally worked with board members, executives, and managers of more than forty companies and institutions. These have ranged from small, creative, entrepreneurial companies to corporate giants such as General Motors, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Clark Equipment.

Before co-founding the firm of Clarke, Dean, Moody and Pyle (Orion West), Julian spent sixteen years as a Senior Partner and President of Adams, Lafferty, Madden & Moody, a well-known consulting firm in Ann Arbor, Michigan, specializing in the fields of corporate counseling, management development and executive education.

While Julian has worked extensively with managers and supervisors of most functions and departments within organizations, he has concentrated more of his time on serving as a mentor, counselor, guide and advisor with board members, presidents, executive officers and senior managers.

 

Laura Pyle, Ph.D.
Orion West - Senior Consultant

Laura Pyle is an organizational psychologist, management consultant, trainer and author. She is highly skilled in strategic planning, executive coaching and team development, as well as individual and organizational assessment.

Before establishing the firm of Clarke, Dean, Moody and Pyle, Laura was the Vice President of Consulting for Orion International. Prior to Orion, Laura was Manager of Organization Development for a division of Unisys Corporation, and an instructor at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University.

Laura earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology at the University of Michigan. She holds a B.A. degree in Psychology and an M.A. degree in Organizational Psychology from the same University. Laura is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the American Psychological Association.

 

Stephen Dewart, M.A.
Orion West - Associate Consultant

Stephen Dewart has a broad background in consulting and research design focusing on merger/acquisition integration, management development, group dynamics and conflict resolution. His strengths include aligning the management teams of newly acquired companies, resolving conflict between executive teams and employees, and designing leadership development programs that achieve results.

Recently, Stephen has helped the executives of several growth-oriented, technology companies identify and implement key business goals and objectives. To achieve these business results, Stephen has played an instrumental role in resolving conflicts and differences among the executive team, as well as the employees, that served as potential obstacles to success.

Before joining Orion West, Stephen Dewart was head of Corporate Development and Acquisition Integration for Star Telecom. In this position, Stephen played a leading role in successfully managing the integration process of four acquisitions; developed and led a highly successful leadership development program for middle-level managers; served as an executive coach to senior-level personnel; as well as facilitated strategic planning and problem-solving sessions for department leaders.

Prior to Star, Stephen was a consultant with Pro-Change Behavior Systems, a firm specializing in helping large organizations manage major organizational change initiatives. He is co-author on several published articles dealing with strategies and techniques for managing large-scale organizational change.

Stephen earned his M.A. in Organizational Psychology at the University of Rhode Island. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He has affiliation with the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

 

Laurie Dean
Orion West - Senior Consultant

For the past 30 years, Laurie Dean has consulted with presidents, owners and managers to help them improve and implement business and financial management systems.

Laurie’s primary expertise is to help a company through rapid growth while maintaining strong cash management and profit. She translates traditional accounting reports and summaries into dynamic and informative work tools that help managers make better strategic and operational decisions.

Recently, Laurie guided a large retail enterprise through a chaotic period of growth that threatened the company’s ability to maintain control of the business. By partnering with the owners, Laurie stabilized cash flow and devised strategies to strengthen customer relationships, increased the collection of accounts, and improve purchasing practices. As a result, the company moved through a challenging growth phase in a balanced and profitable way.

Laurie also focuses on the human side of the business, helping managers build teamwork and cooperation as they establish sound business and financial practices. She is highly skilled at one-on-one coaching of managers and employees, and has extensive experience in meeting facilitation.

 

Bryan Siever
Orion West - Associate Consultant

Bryan has been involved in Organizational Development and Corporate Training for over 10 years. During that period, his clients have ranged from DOD manufacturers, to information technology providers, to high-tech start-ups, to private hoteliers, to multi-million dollar manufacturers within the beauty industry. Bryan works tirelessly to fuse people with processes for his clients.

“G.U.E.S.T! Service Enhancement Training” is a multi-phased service improvement process that Bryan developed specifically for the hospitality industry. Using various learning mediums, clients have achieved dramatic results in short periods of time. His most recent client, one of 22 properties within its chain, has seen their guest satisfaction rating go from 17th out of 22 to 2nd out of 22 within 12 weeks after beginning the G.U.E.S.T! program. All program materials are in Spanish and English.

Before joining Orion West, Bryan held director of Organizational Development positions in both the high-tech and manufacturing industries. Bryan played a successful role in bringing interactive, digitally based learning into a manufacturing industry that was primarily text-based. He also served a critical role in a high-tech Intellectual Property endeavor that resulted in attainment of the desired financing—$20 million dollars.

Bryan is an alumnus of the Aspen Institute for Young Executives, and a previous facilitator for the Franklin Covey Company. As he works with corporate clients to achieve their desired results, he also works with youth to achieve theirs. By encouraging his corporate clients to sponsor local youth to participate in “America's Rising Stars,” a youth leadership program Bryan is certified to conduct, he successfully bridges corporate and community development.

Bryan earned his undergraduate degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Washington State University and his Masters in Organizational Development from Antioch University. He resides in Santa Barbara, California, with his wife and four daughters.
