Richard Hill’s work spans the full range of organizational effectiveness strategies including culture survey, problem solving, team building, managing participation and involvement, managing conflict, communication effectiveness, stress management, planning and organizational diagnosis. He also focuses on interpersonal relations at all levels of organizations.
His forty plus years of experience include executing responsible management positions at General Electric, Dow Leadership Center at Hillsdale College, Human Synergistics, and several years heading his own consulting and publishing firm. He is an associate of The Leadership Bridge, Management Advisory Associates, and Orion International.
Hill is author and co-author of numerous articles and training resources, some of which are: Acceleration Series (New Leader Transition); Alaskan Adventure; The Best of OD; Building More Effective Teams Through Contracting for Change; Caribbean Island Survival II; Envisioning; Group Process Questionnaire; Impact - Your Organization in a Changing World; Role Clarification; The Men/Women Planner; TaskForce; The Tip Scale; and the six module series, Strategic Supervision.
Rich has had a long and successful history of designing OD and Training processes which internal professionals can be trained to appropriately use within their respective organizations.
He has worked with all levels of leadership in the United States, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, France, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Among the clients he has served are Birmingham Steel, Buick Motor of GM, CIA, Diamond Shamrock, FAA, Federal Mogul, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Fiberglas Canada, Gary David Designs, General Electric, General Mills, Kuhlmann Corp., McDonald Investments, McCann-Erickson, Michigan State Police, Ohio Chamber Orchestra, Ohio Council of the Arts, Reichhold Chemicals, Sun Chemicals, Texas Utilities, Touche Ross, Townsend & Bottum, Triplett Corp., U.S. Dept. of Energy, and many others.
Hill is a graduate of Hillsdale College and did his graduate work at Western Reserve University. He was elected to Who’s Who in the Midwest and the World in 1990 - 91 -92, and is a recipient of the prestigious Lippitt Memorial Award for OD Excellence given by the American Society for Training and Development.
As a genealogist, he has written three books on his family background and also regularly teaches a class in LifeWriting - "Turning Memories Into Memoirs" in Ft. Myers, Florida. Hill also designs and creates web sites for small businesses and non-profit organizations. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy School of Music and served on the Battleship New Jersey during the Korean War. He was a member of the ship's band - The Jersey Cats - and during bombardment was a loader on a 5" gun and in battle stations a loader on the 40 mm gun quad. Hill is founder and currently President of the 200 man Lexington Veterans Association in Ft. Myers. He is also Chairman of the Lexington Human Resources Committee.
